We are excited that you are interested in baptism! We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his or her Savior.
The Book of Romans says that when we go under the water, we identify with Christ who went into the grave, and when we come out of the water, we identify with His resurrection. (Romans 6:3-4)
Baptism signifies what has already happened to us spiritually. Our old identity as a sinner is gone, and we rise with a new identity in Christ. Baptism is an outward expression
of an inward decision for Christ.

*Children must be a minimum of age 7 before we will consider baptizing them at Northstar. We believe that children can come to legitimate saving faith in Jesus at a young age. However, many people who were baptized very young and then desire to get “re-baptized” later in life due to not remembering their baptism, not feeling like they understood their decision at the time, etc. Therefore, we believe it is wise shepherding of children’s hearts to delay this step of obedience a little longer to give them more time to process and understand their decision to follow Jesus.
