Our Story
Northstar Church was birthed in the heart of our founding pastor, Scott Cagle, in early 2003. He shared this vision with a small group of people, who committed to start meeting regularly to pray and seek God’s heart for this church.
On July 20, 2003, approximately 90 people gathered to worship and pray in the backyard of a home on Westland Drive and were convinced that the Lord was calling them to plant a new church in Knoxville called Northstar. Our first official service was held the following week, July 27, 2003, at the CAK Middle School gym with 305 in attendance.
In the early years, we were very nomadic in nature, moving to various schools and buildings to accommodate our growth and ministry needs. Today, we are one church in three locations – West Knoxville, South Knoxville, and Morgan County Correctional Facility. Together, we have a shared vision and heart to reach our city and the world with the good news of Jesus. We’re excited for you to join us on this journey!
